Pluto in Aquarius: 2023-2043

The meaning of Pluto.

The planet Pluto is associated with death, destruction, and regeneration. In psychological astrology he represents the Underworld of the psyche – the secrets that we hide from others and from ourselves, the dim recesses of the mind where our darkest emotions are tucked away.  In the transformational astrology that I practice, Pluto shows up as what I call the “Will of the Higher Self” – the part of us that encourages us to transform our secret darkness into an awakened […]

The astrology of the 2020s, Part Two: The astrological cycles

This is Part II of a series. Catch up with Part I here.

Basic concepts from my astrological theology.

  • Harmonious alignments facilitate ease and flow, but they do not generate action. Challenging hard angle aspects promote conflict and discomfort, but they generate personal evolution and transformation.
  • Outer planets serve to inspire and galvanize change on a global level. I believe that the Universe is always striving for balance, and where earthly existence is out of balance a readjustment is needed.
  • Interactions of outer planets activate change where […]

The astrology of the 2020s: A holistic perspective (part one)

This is part one of a series, you can find Part II hereI’ve been enjoying a video series about the upcoming astrological changes crafted beautifully by Dan Waites and S.J. Anderson, two astrologers I met on Twitter recently. I shared these videos with my Facebook friends and followers, and a few people have contacted me expressing pretty strong fears about what is coming; I suspect that there will be more of you with similar fears. So, I thought it might be useful to […]

Elon Musk’s Twitter takeover: An astrological timeline

In April of this year I wrote a profile of Elon Musk after he attempted a hostile takeover of Twitter and now he has done it.  You can read that profile here, but to sum it up:

Dealing with impulse control is a theme in this chart. We have the mentalism of the Sun and Mercury squared by Uranus, the planet of impulsive and radical action. We have a lack of fire. We see that the fire planet Mars is in the air sign Aquarius adding more […]

Jupiter in Aries May 10: Forging a new direction

art by Catrin Welz Stein

The story of Jupiter.

The astrological meaning of Jupiter can be deduced from his position in Roman mythology and modern astronomy: As King of the Gods he was the highest ruler and presided over law and order as well as the fates of men and women. Noble in nature, he represents the search for the highest expression of human life.  As the One who fulfilled requests and wishes, Jupiter has come to be associated with good fortune and luck. As […]

It’s here: The US Pluto return

art by Jerry Lo Faro

The US Pluto return culminates this week. Some of you are familiar with the term “Saturn return” – an event which happens for everyone at age 28-30 and then again around 56-60 when Saturn returns to its position by degree in the natal chart. These are very Saturnian events – times when we need to face responsibilities and hard facts as we transition into the next phase of life.

The Pluto return occurs when Pluto returns to its position in the natal chart. Pluto takes 248 […]

Jupiter in Pisces, May 13 2021-August 6 2021

Jupiter, the planet of expansion, confidence – the King of the gods and the planet which encourage us to be King in our own world – shifts from brainy Aquarius to sensitive Pisces today.  Jupiter will spend a few months in Pisces before retrograding back into Aquarius in August.  During this time, we will discover either (a) an expanded awareness and consciousness of the divine creativity and wisdom that flows through us all, or (b) a trip into fantasy realms where reality hides behind rainbows and alternate universes.

Jupiter tends to expand whatever […]

The meaning of Saturn in Aquarius

art by Krystle Marie Smith

Before we can understand the meaning of Saturn in Aquarius, we need to understand Saturn’s role in human existence.  This is especially important because as the traditional ruler of Aquarius, Saturn is said to be in its domicile in Aquarius (as well as in Capricorn).

Understanding astrological Saturn

Before the discovery of the modern planets Uranus, Neptune and Pluto (not to mention Chiron, the asteroids, and all of the other points that are now used to some extent by astrologers) there were seven planets […]

Musings on the Coronavirus

Over the years I have studied a great deal of correlations between historical events and the associated planetary configurations.  Often there are clear connections that are easily described.  The conjunction of Uranus (radical change) to Pluto (destruction and regeneration) in the mid to late 1960s is one example – it’s easy to see how this planetary combination correlated with the dramatic social upheavals during that decade.  Same thing with the square aspect between Uranus and Pluto between 2010 and 2017.

To prepare for this article I wanted to see what other astrologers said about the Coronavirus.  Several astrologers say “this […]

Saturn sextile Neptune 2019: Creating structure for inspiration

Art by Fiona Owen

Two of the most significant planetary cycles for 2019 are the challenging square alignment between Jupiter’s expansive tendencies and Neptune’s penchant to transcend (or avoid) material reality.  The “hard angle” planetary interactions such as the square (90 degrees) and opposition (180 degrees) tends to give us more of the challenging aspects of the planetary cycle.  The Jupiter and Neptune dance dissolving the restrictions of the material world could potentially become more of a distraction into the world of self-deception and illusion, encouraged by Jupiter’s desire to continue to […]
