The Gemini Full Moon culminates tomorrow (November 27th) at 4:16 am EST/9:16 am UTC. You may know that the Full Moon is the midpoint of the lunar cycle which waxes and wanes each month in the dance between Sun and Moon, stirring the ocean tides and the tides of our own emotions.
The Full Moon takes us through the experiences of the zodiac just as the Sun does, but the Moon is opposite the Sun when it is full and we have an opportunity to balance the zodiacal polarities. When the Sun is in Sagittarius at the Full Moon, Moon is in Gemini and a tension is created between opposite signs which have something in common but are opposite in nature. The Gemini/Sagittarius polarity is easier to integrate than others because both signs encourage us to learn and have opinions; to expand the mind through knowledge and curiosity. However, where Gemini is curious and inquisitive and tends to seek a wide variety of experiences without judgment, just for the sake of expanding awareness, Sagittarius seeks meaning and a philosophical framework through which to filter one’s experiences. Gemini is associated with learning and communication, where Sagittarius looks for adventure and the achievement of expansive goals.
In any case, the Full Moon today and tomorrow includes a tight aspect to Mars which will energize and inspire the Sun while opposing the lunar need for air and space to think and imagine. Saturn, planet of restriction, squares both ends of the spectrum and enforces a time out. This is a time when we long to fly, but our wings are clipped even if only for a few days. To resolve this problem and untie the Saturnian knots we can use this time for learning something new and use the power of curiosity (Gemini) to develop or change our philosophical approach to life (Sagittarius).
Albert Einstein’s quote about holy (Sagittarius) curiosity (Gemini) fits so perfectly into this story and I’ll leave it here for us to ponder. 💖
“The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day.”
—Albert Einstein, quoted in Life magazine article entitled “Never Lose a Holy Curiosity,” May 2, 1955.
